Even though Henry Ford II announced to the world in February 1959 that the future of the Edsel was secure, it was not to be.

Production of the 1960 Edsel line began on September 14, 1959 at Louisville, Kentucky. Except for a very few "test" cars made at Allen Park, Michigan, all of the 2,846 Edsels made for the 1960 model year were produced at the Louisville plant. The official introduction of the 1960 Edsels was October 15, 1959. Just 35 days later, on November 19, the last Edsel was produced.
