I bought my 1967 Mustang GT fastback about 3 years ago. One
of my hobbies was drag racing and I thought it was time for a little
faster race car.
This Mustang has been a race car since back in the
early 70's. It originally was an Acapulco Blue Mustang GT with a 390 V-8
and 4-speed transmission. It now has a 429 V-8 with a Powerglide
transmission. It has a 4.10 rear axle with a spool and strange axles. Two
years ago, my friends and I got out the chop saw and cut the front end
off. Wow, what a project. It now has a Pinto front end with rack & pinion
steering, disc brakes and the shock towers are gone making the 429 much
easier to work on. The car also has a line lock, trans brake and two step.
Best ET so far has been 11.14 for the quarter mile.
Then it is back to the races for my Mustang! It is a great race car and
the 429 V-8 has been rock solid dependable, built Ford tough!
